Support Save the Children with Savoo
Whether children are at risk due to conflict, natural disasters, or the global food crisis, Save the Children ensures they are there providing support wherever possible to ease their suffering and help recovery. One area of focus currently for the charity is in Gaza, where the situation has never been more desperate. Months of unrelenting fighting and deprivation in Gaza have left thousands of children dead, while those who survive face continued war, siege, hunger and unimaginable loss. And while our screens are alive to the horrors in Gaza, all around the world, children are suffering in war zones away from the cameras. Save the Children's teams are working around the clock to get vital supplies to children in the Middle East and beyond as well as preparing to rebuild children's futures once the fighting stops.
Donations positively impact the lives of children in Gaza and worldwide, which is why Savoo is supporting the charity throughout August. Please redeem a qualifying deal on Savoo before August 31st to help us raise awareness and funds for Save the Children.
What is International Youth Day?
International Youth Day was founded at the start of the millennium to raise awareness of youth difficulties. Despite young people aged 10-19 representing 11% of the total population of the UK, children's and young people's issues don’t always get the platform they deserve. Endorsed by the United Nations, the annual day is a vehicle to get young voices heard. After all, only by empowering young people to participate in public life will the planet's future be secure.
2024’s International Youth Day theme is ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development.’ With digitalisation transforming our world, unprecedented opportunities exist to drive economic, social and environmental development and growth. According to the United Nations, digital technologies and data contribute to at least 70% of their 169 sustainable development goals.
On a more personal level, the youth of every community face unique challenges. The annual event on 12 August is an opportunity to learn about local youth culture, activities, and education and even help if you can.
Save the Children has assembled some tips for how to best support a child or young person who may be affected by a crisis. You can also aid the charity by donating, fundraising or volunteering.
About Save the Children
Save the Children is an independently organised and funded organisation with a presence in more than 100 countries. The charity was formed in the aftermath of the First World War in response to the suffering of European children. Today, Save the Children provides responsive and lifesaving support wherever the need is greatest, be it Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia, Türkiye or Syria.
Their Children’s Emergency Fund (CEF) allows Save the Children to roll out a response targeting at-risk children and helping to save lives within hours of a disaster being declared. The charity also supports children who are closer to home. With an estimated 30% of children in the UK living in poverty, Save the Children is essential in helping to fund community projects and support volunteers in making a difference.
A core focus of Save the Children at the moment is Gaza. Months of unrelenting fighting and deprivation have resulted in thousands of children trying to survive a living nightmare. Every donation delivers life-saving essentials like food, water and crucial mental health support to where it’s needed. Raise more money for the charity by setting up a Savoo account and choosing Save the Children as your charity. Your donations will build up whenever you save money while online shopping at Savoo.
