Street Child is fighting for a world where it is seen as unacceptable for a child not to be in education. Today 121 million children around the world do not go to school. Millions more are in school but failing to learn because the resources aren’t good enough. Street Child believes that education is a fundamental right and achieving basic numeracy & literacy skills is the single greatest step that can be taken towards the eliminating global poverty.
The charity goes to places where others don’t – to some of the world’s toughest places - seeking out remote, hard-to-reach, fragile and disaster-affected states that are forgotten about or ignored. Here pragmatic and great value solutions can make a real difference to a child’s future. Their work includes not only building schools and training teachers but also child protection and livelihood support to ensure that children have access to education.
