PDSA receives no government funding, so relies entirely on public support.

In addition to our life-saving work we also run a world-famous animal awards programme. Through these awards we recognise acts of extraordinary animal bravery or exceptional devotion to duty by awarding globally-recognised medals; PDSA Dickin Medal (animals’ Victoria Cross), PDSA Gold Medal (animals’ George Cross), PDSA Order of Merit and PDSA Commendation
