About Candlelighters Trust

Candlelighters is a charity that supports families facing children's cancer in Yorkshire financially, emotionally and practically. It gets involved in all sorts of different projects to help ordinary families who are facing extraordinary circumstances.

By supporting all family members affected by children’s cancer, including siblings, Candlelighters ensures that no-one is overlooked. Additionally, there is no cut-off point for support - the charity looks after families during treatment, after treatment and during grievances. The charity’s support continues for as long as the families need us.

What Makes Candlelighters Trust Different

Candlelighters are determined to defeat cancer, and values integrity, engagement, flexibility and fun in all that it does. It funds both non-medical and medical research, offering financial, practical and emotional support for families. It’s a charity that’s present in person within their Family Support Centre, The Square - providing wellbeing therapies for stressed-out family members, such as parents, siblings and grandparents, running support groups for them to help them manage. Additionally, Candlelighters may help from afar by funding roles within Leeds Children’s Hospital, offering support to the families to help them during their stays on the ward. As an example, it funds Play Leaders who help distract children from their tumultuous medical treatments and to entertain those who are staying within the hospital, for both short and long periods of time.

Monthly Donations To Candlelighters Trust

If you're able to contribute, here's what the following amounts will go towards:

• £10 could pay for craft materials at the hospital, helping to make the medical environment less daunting.
• £30 could pay for a day-trip for a patient or sibling to give them some respite and a place to have fun.
• £75 could pay for a talking therapy session to look after a parent or a child’s mental health.
