Broxtowe Womens Projects vision is that women and their families who are affected by domestic abuse in Broxtowe are empowered to feel safe, to take control of their lives and to lead safer lives.

About Broxtowe Women's Project

Broxtowe Women's Project is a support and advice charity for women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse, supporting survivors of current and historic domestic abuse at any stage in their journey. The charity is trauma informed, recognising and responding to ways that survivors are affected by their experiences by working in a way that supports resilience and recovery.

It provides a holistic, wraparound family service, empowering women to regain financial and domestic control, and lead independent, fulfilling, safe and positive lives. Broxtowe Women's Project provides guidance and training, identifying abilities and strengths, building on transferrable skills and supporting women towards positive progressions.

Its core mission statement is to ‘ensure those affected by Domestic Abuse are empowered to be safe and in control of their own lives.’

Learn More About Broxtowe Women's Project

Broxtowe Women's Project prides itself on being able to challenge the stigma associated with domestic abuse, advocate for women and their families, raise awareness to prevent abuse and campaign for an end to domestic abuse and violence and navigate women towards lives free from abuse. It provides a bespoke service to women based on their individual needs rather than what is required by funders.

The charity works tirelessly to nurture children and young people affected by domestic abuse, giving them time and space to explore their feelings in a safe and supportive environment, building confidence and resilience, helping them to understand healthy relationships and emotions.

Broxtowe Women's Project’s main services include:

An Outreach Service

A helpline providing information and crucial safety and risk management advice. Additional emotional support is provided through our counselling and wellbeing programmes, and practical aid offered in securing and delivering essential donations, alongside giving access to vital legal support.

A Children and Young People’s Service

This provides a safe space for the sharing of experiences together with specialised therapeutic based interventions, building confidence and understanding of healthy relationships.

Awareness raising, training, and campaigning

Working in partnership within the local community across the East Midlands to embed DA awareness, policies, and procedures with support and training for businesses that enable them to recognise and respond to DA as an organisational priority.

Ways To Get Involved with Broxtowe Women's Project

Remembering BWP in your Will

You can help more women, children and families survive Domestic Abuse by leaving BWP a gift in your Will. Every gift will make a difference to a woman, child or young person who needs the charity’s support in the future, so if you’re thinking of leaving us a gift, thank you.

Updating your existing Will

If you’ve already written a Will, and you want to add a gift to BWP you can do this by drafting a document called a Codicil. A Codicil is simply an addition, amendment or supplement to your existing Will. We always recommend consulting a solicitor or legal professional when completing a codicil form to update your Will.

Broxtowe Lotto

The organisation is a recipient of charitable funds raised through the Broxtowe Lotto! Tickets cost just £1 each with a top prize of £25,000 with a weekly draw each Saturday night.

Donations To Broxtowe Women's Project

Broxtowe Women’s Project are extremely grateful for all the help, support, gifts and donations the charity receives from their local community, individuals, business and statutory agencies. Without this support , it would not be able to continue to offer support and advice services for women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

If you would like to donate an item, please email enquiries@broxtowewp.org to find out what is needed at present. Donations of any amount can be received through the charity’s Just Giving Page, found on their website.

  • Give £15 to provide a woman with one hour’s phone support. This could be her first time of telling anyone about the abuse and could be the beginning of a journey where she can become free from fear.
  • Give £45 to provide a woman with two hours of outreach support, meeting her in a safe and confidential venue and working alongside her to establish her needs and options. This may be her only opportunity to be listened to and taken seriously. This could also help provide a child or young person with a one to one session with a Children’s Outreach Worker, giving them time and space to explore their feelings in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Give £65 to assist a woman in crisis into refuge. This can take several hours of liaising with various agencies and lots of support, encouragement and reassurance, especially if there are children involved, as this could be a woman’s next step to freedom.
