The Bromley by Bow Centre is an innovative charity in east London. We are based in Tower Hamlets, one of the most deprived boroughs in the country, where poverty and inequality is rife and over half of children live in poverty.
Our mission is to create a cohesive, healthy and successful community. We do this by providing support to empower people to build the skills, networks and confidence they need to achieve their goals and transform their lives.
The Bromley by Bow Centre is a community charity offering over 40 services and activities including community research projects. The charity is based in Tower Hamlets, East London which is deemed as one of the most deprived boroughs in London, where poverty and inequality is rife and over half of children live in poverty. The mission of Bromley by Bow Centre is to create a cohesive, healthy and successful community, by providing support to empower people to build the skills, networks and confidence they need to achieve their goals and transform their lives. Its services are aimed at everybody within the community, of all ages and backgrounds. It stretches from primary care for local residents, to opportunities to set up your own business; from support with tackling credit card debts, to getting a job for the first time.
The Bromley by Bow Health Centre is the UK’s first healthy living centre and it is owned by its patients. It has employed approximately 100 staff members, over which half are local to the area and many started out as volunteers. It supports people with a wide variety of integrated services based on their individual needs, because it knows that health is primarily driven by social factors, not medical ones. Bromley by Bow Centre have strategic partnerships with a wide range of organisations and funders, who work collaboratively in order to deliver highly effective programmes that transform peoples’ lives.
